Founded in 1985, we currently have over _ individual members and _ institutional members across _ European countries. Any graduate of an EAGT accredited Training Institute can join EAGT as a full member.

EAGT is a member of the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP) and as such we oversee professional standards for Gestalt Therapy in Europe via the devising of joint Training Standards and developing a code of Ethical practice.

We are founded on democratic principles with officers elected by and accountable to our members. Leaders of National Organisations for Gestalt Therapy (NOGTs) from the different European countries constitute our General Board.
